Bridge Over the World's Scar
When the New Year rang in 2024, I made a quiet resolution: I would write a novel. In a world becoming more and more dominated by LLM produced slop, this seemed just as foolish as it was vital. Not even my family knew I was doing this until I came out the other side with over 300,000 words written. After gathering feedback and hacking away, I'm excited to share the first portion of that work.
BRIDGE OVER THE WORLD’S SCAR is a 105,000 word dark fantasy novel with augmentations of new weird elements. A stand alone novel with sequels already drafted and outlined, it explores questions of identity and power similar to Rebecca Roanhorse's BLACK SUN and features a cross-cultural romance that fans of S.A. Chakraborty's THE CITY OF BRASS will enjoy.
I have written several unproduced screenplays for Mayhem Pictures, and BRIDGE is my debut novel. Professionally, I am a video director whose work in visual storytelling was nominated for two local Emmys and won dozens of awards on the film festival circuit. My journey from Wisconsin farm childhood to our ‘imperial core’ inspires the cultural transitions one of the protagonists navigates in this novel, while my work with Meridian International Center informs my world building.
